North Carolina unemployment requests increased last week

The initial records for unemployment benefits in North Carolina have increased last week, compared to the previous week, the US Labor Department said on Thursday.

The new jobs without jobs, a proxy for redundancies, increased to 3,716 in the week ending on March 8, increasing compared to 3,341 a week before, said the Labor Department.

US unemployment requests decreased to 220,000 last week, decreasing by 2,000 demands from 222,000 in the previous week, on a seasonal adjusted base.

Alaska registered the highest percentage increase in weekly claims, with demands jumping by 53.8%. Meanwhile, New Hampshire has registered the highest percentage decrease in new claims, demanding by 66.5%.
