Stillwater, Payne County declares emergency as evaluated wild fire damage

Mayor Stillwater Will Joyce has declared an emergency state for the city, and Payne County Commissioners issued an emergency declaration of 30 days for the county in response to devastating fires. However, at this moment there was no emergency situation at the state level.

The governor of Oklahoma, Kevin Stitt, met on Friday with the State Emergency Management Department at the Emergency Operations Center and is to investigate the damage of fires in the whole state on Saturday morning.

“Sarah and I are separated from families and companies who have suffered a loss today,” said Governor Stitt. “Tomorrow morning, I will research the hardest through the latest fire outbreak.”

The governor is scheduled to organize a press conference at 10 in the morning to provide additional updates.

Meanwhile, US Senator James Lankford shared a message from Washington, DC, offering prayers for those affected by fires. He also said he would return to Oklahoma after voting at a Senate resolution to prevent government closure.
