Sanford Man Up for holding firearms for the third time

A 38 -year -old Sanford man who has at least two previous condemnations for holding firearms by a kind of crime was again accused of the crime.

Shamar Davell Petty from the 900th block of San Lee Drive was arrested on October 17, 2024 and also accused of offenses that resisted a public officer, although the lawyer rejected this accusation on November 8, 2024.

$ 50,000 was set up guaranteed, but it wasn’t clear in Ecourts if Petty was posting. He was not listed in the prison in Lee County on Friday, March 14th.

Petty was sentenced on October 27, 2015 to seven years and eight months in the federal prison holding a firearm by a kind of crime on March 17, 2015. He ordered three years of supervised release after executing his sentence. A probation petition was entered in the federal case on February 4, according to PAPR.GOV.

Also, Petty received a suspended sentence of 13 to 25 months in North Carolina, on January 20, 2013, which resulted from holding a firearm, according to Ecourts.

A report from June 13, 2022 in PAPR.GOV He states that Petty was hired and lived with his grandmother, but testified for cocaine four times in 2021 and 2022.

He has an administrative hearing set for March 27 at the upper court of Lee County.
