Boacleier for wild animals killed in accident by accident in the Odisha forest

Bhubaneswar: A suspect of poacher for wild animals met a tragic end after an alleged accidental discharge from his firearm in the dense forests of the Gajapati district. The deceased, identified as Harishchandra Bhuyan in Sindhiba village, was supposed to prepare for a hunting expedition when the fatal mistake took place.

According to sources, Bhuyan ventured into the forest near the village of Kunkunipada Sahi, accompanied by a group of young local people. As he prepared his firearm made in the country, Bhuyan accidentally pulled a shot, which caused fatal wounds. His lifeless body was discovered by the locals near a hill tail, next to the firearm and a stock of unused ammunition. The villagers promptly alerted the police, which arrived at the scene to ensure evidence and initiate an investigation.

Bhuyan’s sudden death left his family in a state of shock, raising restless questions about how he acquired a firearm first. His sister, said Bhuyan, expressed unbelief towards the incident.

“He was a simple man. I can’t understand how he put his hand on a weapon. Moreover, I do not suspect an unpleasant game was with a soul and they did not have known enemies, ”she said.

His wife resounded similar doubts, stating that Bhuyan left home that day under the pretext of buying ratios.

“I don’t understand why he would have a weapon. She never mentioned that before before, “she said.

The local police detained two members of the Hunting Party for query, aiming to discover if the shooting was an authentic accident or if there are several stories. Authorities also investigate the source of firearms and if it has been obtained illegally.

Despite the strict legal prohibitions on the poaching of wildlife – including harsh sanctions for skin smuggling, organs and meat – such illicit activities persist in Odisha’s forest regions. Boackers frequently concern wild boars, deer and rabbits for both personal and trade. Experts blame the application of weak law and a low conviction rate for continuous growth of crimes for wild animals.

“The poor implementation and lack of successful prosecutors encourage poachers,” said a high official of the forests, under anonymous conditions. Unless a stricter monitoring and faster legal action are not implemented, such tragedies and environmental damage will continue, ”said Dillip Subudhi, a wild animal activist.
