Appeals to the CEO of North West Housing Corporation after charges

Appeals to the CEO of North West Housing Corporation after charges

This follows accusations of a disturbing event in the village of Lokaleng, which cost the taxpayers R250,000, but eventually ended in failure.

The call for action came during a special urgent meeting convened by the Commission on Friday (14/3). The chairman of the Cooperative Governance Portfolio Committee, Human Settlements and Traditional Business, Kgalalelo Makgokgowa, asked the North -Vest for Cooperative and Traditional Business, Gaoage Molapisi, to immediately suspend Sello Mogodiri while waiting for a small criminal investigation into this regard.

He said that the decision of the committee was determined by the inadequate presentation of Mogodiri regarding the financial and operational integrity of the Mega projects and the intelligent city.

According to Makgokgowa, Mogodiri failed to provide satisfactory answers to critical questions about project viability and financial implications of the Failed Lokaleng event. He said that Mogoderi was also trained to present a written report in a subsequent stage, but the committee rejected his explanations as insufficient.

“The management of the CEO of the Housing Corporation in North West (NWHC) is unacceptable and should be addressed immediately. We will not allow the wrong management, non -discipline and reckless expenses to continue uncontrolled. We request that the MEC Institute be a forensic investigation on the entity.

“Moreover, remove the CEO as an accounting authority to promote a good corporate governance and manage the consequences,” said Makgokgowa.

He said the committee also set a strict term for seven days for NWHC to provide more reports and key documents. These include:

  • A comprehensive report on the consultations of the interested parties, including the commitments with the Council of the Court and the representatives of the affected community.
  • The full disclosure of investment commitments, project preparations, recruitment processes and services level related to the Failed Lokaleng event.
  • A detailed risk assessment report.
  • A report of the Prime Minister’s Office on the return event in 2024, including a breakdown of all expenses, events and presence registers.

Makgokwowa also asked Molapisi to provide an urgent report on the consequences that NWHC is facing due to the improper use of public funds, referring in particular to the Lokaleng event and the SOD transformation event.
