Series pedophile and former professor David Crowther dies in prison

David Crowther, in Huddersfield, died 83 years old at HMP Leeds, in Armley, on January 31, according to a registration published by the prison and probation (PPO).

The 83 -year -old was just 16 days to a two -year and four -month prison, after being convicted of three sexual crimes on January 14 this year.

He was found guilty that he incited a child to commit an act of raw indecency and two indecent attacks against the 11 -year -old boy, after a lawsuit at Leeds Crown Court last September.

But he contacted the police in 2021 after searching online and found Crowther’s media coverage for sexual chief offenses.

He was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison in 2019 for sexually abused by two teenagers more than three decades before.

Crowther was also previously convicted of five indecent historical attacks on children, while he was a teacher in Leeds.

The Salvgardation unit of the Leeds District has launched an investigation after the 2021 report, which eventually led to its conviction in 2024 and to the sentence in January this year.

HMP Leeds, in Armley HMP Leeds, in Armley (Image: Google Street View) Detective sergeant Emma Maltas, from the Leeds district, said at the time of the sentence: “This was a terrifying ordeal for a young boy to endure him at that time and was something that had a lasting traumatic impact on him that he had to wear with him throughout his life for adults.

“We hope that the victim will gain a certain sense of closing since Crowther’s knowledge has now been brought in justice for the evil they have done to him, both at that time and over the years that followed.

“The West Yorkshire police will always treat any accusation of this nature and hope that the successful result of this investigation will provide other victims of similar offenses to present themselves knowing that they will be listened to and supported.”

PPO, the independent organization that investigates deaths in arrest, and complaints from people who are under arrest or under community supervision, has not yet issued a cause for death, because an investigation is “in progress”.
