Asked if she feels special on her birth weekend, Seeley said, “I now.”

“It was very special”

Some of Cannon’s children participated in the party and said they felt lucky to spend their mother’s day with her.

“She taught us everything, such as how to accept everyone in the community,” said Cathy Dowling, Cannon’s daughter. “She is my hero – all our heroes.”

Cannon was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Pei after meeting her husband in Ontario. They had 12 children – six in Ontario and six in PEI, said her son Alfred Cannon.

“I had a good life, a happy life. And they had a busy life. They grew 12 so it was very busy,” he said.
