India hosts a three -day quad workshop on pandemic training The latest India news

High health officials and technical experts in the Quad Member States and 15 countries in the Indo-Pacific region participate in a pandemic training workshop.

“The Quad Workshop on Pandemic Preparation for the Indo-Pacific region”, which started on Monday and will continue until March 19, will focus on pandemic training, especially governance, supervision and innovation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The event is part of India Presidency of the Quad group, which includes the US, Japan and Australia and is a result of the Quad leaders’ summit, organized in September last year. Cooperation on health problems appeared as a key pillar of the quad.

The group discussions at the workshop will focus on strengthening the global health frames, improving the preparation and resistance, ensuring coordinated pandemic responses and implementing the approach “One Health”.

The ministry also said discussions on risk communication, community involvement, disease supervision and capacity strengthening.

Participants will be involved in group works and simulations on pandemic such as avian influenza, Mpox and Ebola, refining response strategies and promoting cross -border coordination.

Foreign delegates will obtain a first -hand perspective on the public health infrastructure in India, surveillance systems and emergency response capabilities. They will also visit the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and the National Center for the Control of Diseases transmitted by Vector.

In addition to senior health officials and technical experts from the Quad Member States, the workshop has attracted over 25 delegates from 15 other countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Filipin, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Thailand and international health organizations.

The inaugural meeting of the workshop, inaugurated by the Minister of Health Aupriya Patel, was addressed by the main scientific counselor Ajay Kumar Sood, the health secretary of the Puya Srivastava Union, additional secretary in the Ministry of Health, V Hekali Zhimomi and additional Secretary (America).

The Quad Workshop is a “landmark in the construction of a more robust framework, coordinated by Indo-Pacific health,” said the ministry.
