Madhya Pradesh: Inspired by Crime Show, Gwalior man kills his wife, staged as a road accident

A man from Gwalior killed his wife and tried to disguise the crime as a road accident, leaving the corpse on the street. The police initially treated the incident as an accident, but a post-mortem exam revealed that the woman was brutally beaten. Following subsequent investigations, the police arrested the husband and registered a file against him and three other family members.

The case came to light on February 12, when the 22-year-old woman was reported that she died in a road accident on the Sheetla road in the Kampu Police Section area. Her husband, Pradeep Gurjar, who was with her at that time, suffered only minor wounds. The police initially accepted Pradeep’s account about the accident, but the inconsistencies in his statements and evidence on the spot raised suspicions.

As the investigation progressed, the woman’s family claimed that she had harassed for dowry. Meanwhile, the medical -legal conclusions have confirmed that her wounds were the result of a severe attack, rather than an accident. Additional investigations revealed that Pradeep planned the crime after watching crime television shows.

Based on the evidence, the police accused Pradeep, his father Ramveer Gurjar, and his Banwari and Sonu Gurjar with crime and criminal conspiracy. Pradeep was arrested, while the authorities continue to investigate the role of the other accused in the crime. The police also analyze if Pradeep has received external assistance in trying to cover the crime.
