Parents accused of neglect after child death in Indianapolis

Indianapolis-two Indianapolis parents are experiencing accusations of neglect after their four-month-old daughter’s death.

Crute, 25 years old and Darion Washington, 28, were accused of neglecting a four -month -old child, Iyari Washington.

According to a probable cause, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Statement, the officers responded to a suffering call on March 3, 2023, regarding a unanswered child on their residence on North Holmes Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers discovered Iyari in an emaciated state.

Iyari was transported to Riley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An autopsy showed that it was significantly undernourished and underweight, with a weight of only 7.1 kilograms at the time of his death.

According to the statement, the detectives found discrepancies in parents’ statements about Iyari’s health, who failed to request prompt medical care for their daughter.

Detectives found that Iyari was born prematurely and had health complications that required specialized care. Although she was discharged from the hospital with instructions for tracking, her parents did not lead her to the necessary programming, invoking difficulties in planning and transport issues. The last significant medical assistance he received –oari was during his stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (Nicu).

In interviews, both parents indicated the awareness of Iyari’s continuous breathing difficulties and expressed their intention to schedule a doctor. However, this never took place. Witnesses, including family members, reported that they observed the precarious health of the baby, and the concerns were raised to the parents, who reduced the situation.

As part of the investigation, the detectives performed search warrants at the family home and did not find children’s bottles, formula or suitable sleeping arrangements. The results led to the conclusion that the parents have neglected it medical Iyari.
