Exxaro says that Num claims that the “unfounded” store

Exxaro Resources said that a meeting with the National Union of Mines (Num) scheduled today about the “unfounded accusations” has not taken place.

This was after Num was issued a statement earlier Monday, in which he recently rejected the appointment of Ben Magara as the CEO of the coal miner, starting April 1. In a press statement, the Union fired a series of accusations, including its vision, the Board of Directors of Exxaro orchestrated the resignation of its former CEO, Nombasa Tsengwa.

The Union also said that Magara had a conflict of interest as non -executive director of Exxaro and the Grindrod Transport and Logistics Company (since he was given up). Exxaro awarded Grindrod contracts available to Magara, he said.

“We would meet with the regional management Num Highveld, Monday 17, but they did not attend the meeting,” said an Exxaro spokesman, on behalf of the company’s board of directors. “It is a shame, because it would have offered an opportunity to cope with the unfounded accusations raised by the regional leadership,” said the spokesman.

Exxaro also said that an independent investigation into the alleged activities of his former coal chief of Kgabi by the Bowmans law firm “and will be concluded as quickly as the miniosity allows.”

“I repeatedly invited to present any credible evidence they can have about independent investigators – but they have not done so,” said the spokesman. “The actions of the company will be informed by the result of the investigation, and they will be communicated in a timely manner.”

Tsengwa has resigned in February Over the management of a probe in accusations regarding her behavior, which included receivables related to “working place and governing practice”. ENS law firm was registered to carry out an independent investigation, but Tsengwa said he was “a predetermined result, which I refuse to submit further.”

Magara’s appointment has been greeted with applause and wishes When announced on March 13 During the presentation of the results of the whole year of the company.

His first action was to recommend Exxaro to his diversification strategy, saying in a statement that he will use the group’s coal production “to expand our portfolio to low-carbon critical minerals essential for the future”.

But Num is skeptical of Magara. He said that Bowman’s investigation into the Masia will not be “a fair result”, while Magara was “at the cloth”, adding that: “he will never go against a company, he is also an active director of”, – without knowing that Magara resigned from Grindrod.
