Tesco has installed new sliding plastic devices on the shelves of supermarkets, in an attempt to discourage buyers.
The plastic counterfeits protect the objects on the shelves and must be slipped from the road to discover goods.
The plastic “shield” devices seem to be located in front of articles of a higher value such as Ferrero Rocher and chocolate with milk tray.
A Tiktok clip from the new devices has gone viral, leaving confused customers.
One person said, “How does this stop?”
Another said, “So you can slide it and get what you need. So how will the store elevators stop? “
A person commented: “Thieves do not care, break them or take longer to take things. It does not matter if the barriers, the gates, these, the labels. They will steal if they want to steal. “
Another one suggested that the device could be designed so as to capture the fingerprints from Shoplifter on the clear plastic.
A buyer, George Young, said: “It certainly works as someone who had them in their store, more time is needed to reach all, so that they can steal 10 bars instead of 30 years and, if they go more, it offers security time.”
Another said: “It is a discouragement mechanism, individuals are less likely to come and make a quick theft from Tesco because of those stupid slides, so that they go elsewhere.”
It is not clear what branch the new anti-type devices had.
The video, which has been watched over six million times simply states: “The new Tesco security devices will work?”
