For the 15th time in the history of programs, Basketball found his name along the line with 1 seeds of The NCAA tournament for men Sunday in the selection.

But this is not the biggest story that surrounds the best -ranked Blue Devils in March madness. Instead this is the status of first -story guard Cooper Flagg.

Flagg, considered widely considered as one of the top players in the male college basketball, missed the last two games for lead with an apparent left ankle lesion that he supported in the quarterfinals of ACC vs. Georgia Tech.

Yes, Flagg is expected to play in the NCAA tournament for Duke.

Coach Duke, Jon Scheyer, made his player status known in the ESPN “Bracketology” show on Sunday, after the NCAA tournament support was revealed, saying the goal is to return on Friday in the first round.

“From my perspective, it is the complete steam. I want to go back to Coop back as soon as I can, and he wants to do the same. Obviously, tomorrow is important. Today was a day off, we returned late (from the ACC tour),” Scheyer said on Sunday. “We hope that he can start progressing starting tomorrow with doing some works on the court and then he will be built to where he can practice later in the week.

“Our goal is for Friday. Without question about it.”

Scheyer’s comments reiterated on Sunday those of the head of the NCAA selection committee, Dan Gavitt, that Flagg would be good for Madness March.

“What we understand from communication with Duke and ACC is that Cooper Flagg will be available for the NCAA tournament so you don’t expect this to show them sowing.” Gavitt said on Saturday.

Cooper suffered an injury to the left ankle in the last minutes of the first half of the victory in the quarterfinals of the Duke against Georgia Tech, on Thursday, March 13.
