Police removed the drug union in Kepala Batas

Kepala Batas: The police here stopped a drug trafficking union with the arrest of two local men and confiscated drugs that are believed to be in almost 500,000 RM in two raids at Sungai Dua and Juru, on Saturday (March 15).

Bukit Aman Narcotics Department of Criminal Investigation Interim Director Deputy Director Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali said that the raids were made on the basis of the information gathered by Bukit Aman Ncid.

The first suspect is a 46 -year -old man who drove an SUV who was stopped by the police and detained near Sungai Dua Toll Plaza to the south, around 9.20.

“A check of the vehicle has found seven bags of Gunny containing drugs that are believed to be ganja flowers and with a weight of about 146,590 kg, respectively 1,075 kg,” he said.

“The police also confiscated a Sig Sauer gun, two empty magazines and three pairs of handcuffs,” he added during a press conference at the North Seberang Perai Police headquarters.

Following the arrest, the police detained another suspect in a area near the South Plaza South, around 9.25, on the same day.

The 24 -year -old suspect was driving a vehicle and acted as a sweep for the first suspect, as he was heading for drug delivery.

DCP Mat Zani said that confiscated drugs are worth RM487.243 and could be used by almost 300,000 drug addicts.

He said in operations, the police confiscated two vehicles, jewelry and RM5,170 cash.

DCP Mat Zani said that the investigation revealed the second suspect, who acted as a sweep for the union, will investigate the routes to follow the presence of the police, ensuring that the first car carrying drugs could be transported safely.

“The investigation found that the union will rent cars to transport drugs,” he added.

He also stated that the union has been active from the beginning of this year and all the suspects had prior to drugs related to drugs and criminal, adding that the first suspect was positive for Ganja.

The suspects were withdrawn for a week from March 16 – March 22 to help investigations in accordance with section 39b of the 1952 Dangerous Drug Law and section 8 of the 1971 law of firearms (increased penalties).

“We will continue to follow the remaining union members who are still in freedom and bring them in court,” he said.
