Kuwait City, March 18: The Emergency Police Department has launched statistics that reveal that, during a series of recent campaigns and control points, seven people were sent to the General Drug Department. These individuals were found either in the possession of drugs, or in driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The operations of the department, which included 1,117 security operations and control points, led to the issuance of 8,851 traffic violations. Among them, 54 violations were related to parking in designated spaces for people with disabilities. This particular violation is considered serious and, according to the new law, is punished with a fine of 150 dinars if solved outside the court. If the case is taken to court, the sentence could include prison for a period from one to three years, a fine between 600 and 1,000 dinars or a combination of both penalties.

In addition, the Emergency Police arrested 20 persons wanted by the authorities, 21 expatriates who were registered as abcomprocesses, 17 persons found without identification and 20 expatriates with expired residence.

Between 5 and 9 of this month, the Emergency Police also responded to 111 traffic accidents and two tread incidents. These cases have been transmitted to the appropriate police stations for further investigations.
