Defense lawyer says Lombaard was wrong about certain details in testimony

Cape Town – a defense lawyer for one of the accusations in the Joshlin Smith trial on Tuesday, tried to discredit the state -of -star witness, Lombard Lombaard.

Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis and Stevano Van Rhyn are accused of kidnapping and trafficking in the girl’s disappearance.

The accused is tried at the High Court of Western Cape, located in the multifunctional center of the Gulf of Saldanha.

On Tuesday, the Defense Lawyer Fanie Harmse, who represents Appolis, told Lombaard that he was wrong about certain details of her testimony.

Lombaard has involved all charges as accomplices in Kelly Smith’s plan to sell Joshlin to a Sangoma for R20.000.

Lombaard confessed that he attended a Detective Applellis question about the stolen chicks on February 18, 2024, the day before Joshlin disappeared.

The chicks would have been stolen from a nearby farm in Middelpos.

Harmse told Lombaard that Appollis admitted that he was interviewed by the detective, but it happened on Saturday, February 17, and not Sunday.

The process continues.
