The gun gun attacks the convoy that evacuates the medical staff after the Haiti aid group, temporarily tired the hospital

San Juan, Puerto Rico – Doctors without borders said on Monday that four of his vehicles caught fire while evacuating the staff of a hospital in the capital Haiti, as a band violence.

The aid organization said the attack took place after decided on Saturday to suspend services at the Turgeau Emergency Center, considering “brutal street fights” approaching the unit. He mentioned that one of his convoy “was repeatedly and intentionally fired, despite the previous coordination with the authorities.”

No one was killed, but the staff members received minor injuries, said Benoit Vasseur, the head of the Haiti group mission.

“Currently, it is impossible to continue the operations at the hospital, but we have committed ourselves to reopen our unit as soon as the situation allows us to do this safe,” he said.

Doctors without borders said that it is the second time in less than four months that it was forced to suspend operations at that health unit in Port-Prince.

The Turgeau Emergency Center was one of the few remaining hospitals in the Haiti capital, which was fully functional as bands that control 85% of Port-Prince attacks climbed in an attempt to control more territory.
