Jordan asks the International Community to stop Israeli “brutality” in Gaza

Amman, Jordan /Istanbul

Jordan Prime Minister Jafar Hassan asked the international community on Tuesday to stop Israel’s “brutality” in Gaza.

During a cabinet session, Hassan called renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza “an attack on humanity itself”, urging the international community to stop “brutality against women and innocent children, according to the State News Agency Petra.

The Jordan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked Israel to “respect the agreement to cease the fire in all its phases, which was intermediate through Egyptian, Egyptian and US efforts.”

He warned of “the risk of climbing regional tensions if Israel continues its aggression on Gaza”, using the international community to “assume legal and moral responsibilities and to force Israel to stop its aggression on Gaza.”

The ministry also asked the international actors to “ensure the complete implementation of the fire termination agreement, restore electricity in Gaza and reopen the designated passes to provide humanitarian help, which are facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”

The Israeli army beat Gaza strip on Tuesday, killing at least 404 people, hurting hundreds and violating a fire termination agreement that entered into force on January 19th.

Over 48,500 Palestinians were largely killed women and children, and over 112,000 other injured in an Israeli brutal military campaign in October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister, Yoav Gallant, for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a case of genocide at the International Court of Justice for his war on the enclave.
