A 22 -year -old man was sentenced to George’s regional court on Tuesday, at 30, direct prison for rape and killing a minor last April.

Western Cape NPA spokesman, Eric Ntabazalila, said, in a statement, the 22-year-old was accused of breaking the house with the intention of stealing and theft, the rape of a minor and the murder.

According to Ntabazalila, the perpetrator cannot be appointed to protect the family of the victim of minor rape and deceased by secondary victimization.

He said that during the trial, it was revealed that the deceased and the accused grew as brothers.

Ntabazalila adds that on the day of the incident, the accused entered the house where the child was sleeping and raped it before suffocating it until death.

In the statement, Ntabazalila also said that, on the day of the incident, the accused used drugs and alcohol, but still could have made a distinction between correct and wrong and acted accordingly.

“He was later arrested and found in possession of a mobile phone and confessed the crimes.

He adds that the director of public prosecutors in Western Cape, lawyer Nicolette Bell greeted the sentence.
