There are no political songs at temples festivals, says Kerala High Court after being able to find out on Dyfi Revolutionary Songs at Temple Fest

The High Court of Kerala has ordered the Travancore Devaswom Council to ensure that no activities are allowed in the temple spaces that affect its holiness during the annual festivals or other festivals.

The written petition is filed by a devotion, who is also a lawyer, claiming that a person named Aloshy has played political songs by displaying the flags of the political party in the background during the temple festival, which is bad for the feelings of the devotes. Also, it is assumed that the Advisory Committee of the Temple organized the performance by violating the holiness of the Temple.

Pleadoaria said that temple festivals are sacrosante and should not be used as platforms for political agendas. Pleadoaria was submitted looking for the direction from the court to retain the use of the Kadakkal Devi Temple and its spaces from any kind of promotion, approval or facilitation of political parties. It is looking for a direction in which the temple spaces must be used exclusively for religious and cultural purposes.

The permanent lawyer of the Board of Directors of Travancore Devaswom informed the court that the Council guided the director of vigilance and security (superintendent of the police) to carry out an investigation and to present a report. It was also argued that the Council issued a notification of the Temple Advisory Committee. The court guided the Board of Directors of Travancore Devaswom to submit a statement of statement before the court regarding the measures made.

In addition, the court has guided the Board of Directors to submit a declaration of control regarding the money collected from devoted to build the scene and the management of the temple festival.

The court ordered this way, “No organization or group of devotes for collecting money in relation to the temple festivals. Any collection of money should use sealed coupons of Devaswom assistant with the prior permission of the Travancore Devaswom. All these collections must be accounted for and subject to the statutory audit …”

The problem is posted next week to be considered.
