NVIDIA announces Photonics Spectrum-X, packaged optical networks for scale factories to millions of GPUs

• 1.6 terabite per second on port switches to provide 3.5x energy savings and 10x resistance in AI factories
• Inventions and Common collaborations with TSMC, coherent, corning incorporated, foxconn, lupantum and senko to create integrated silicon, optical process and supply chain

San Jose, California, March 18, 2025 (Globe Newswire) – GTC -Novidia today presented Nvidia Spectrum-X and Nvidia Quantum-X Silicon Photonics network switches, which allow factories to connect millions of GPUs on sites, drastically reducing energy consumption and operational costs. Nvidia obtained the merger of electronic circuits and optical communications on a massive scale.

As the factories have to grow to unprecedented dimensions, networks must evolve to keep up. NVIDIA photonic switches are the most advanced network solution in the world. They integrate 4x less lase optical innovations to provide 3.5x more efficiency of electricity, 63x higher signal integrity, 10x better scale resistance and a faster implementation with 1.3x compared to traditional methods.

Nvidia silicon silicon network switches are available as part of NVIDIA SPECTRUM-X Photonics Ethernet and NVIDIA Quantum-X Photonics.

The Spectrum-X Ethernet Networking platform offers higher performance and 1.6x bandwidth density compared to traditional ethernet for multi-rent, hyperscale factories, including the world’s greatest supercomputer.

NVIDIA SPECTRUM-X photonic switches include several configurations, including 128 ports of 800 GB/s or 512 ports of 200 GB/s, offering 100TB/S total band width, as well as 512 ports of 800 GB/s or 2,048 ports of 200 GB/s, for a total number of 400TB/s.

The NVIDIA-X photonic spit switches offer 144 800 GB/s ports based on the 200 GB/s serums and use a liquid cooled design to effectively chill on board. NVIDIA-X photonic photonic switches offer 2x faster speeds and 5x higher scalability for computing fabrics compared to the previous generation.

A network ecosystem

The NVIDIA silicon photoncase ecosystem includes TSMC, Browave, coherent, Incorporated corningFabrinet, Foxconn, Lamantum, Senko, Spil, Sumitomo Electric Industries and TFC Communication.

Availability

Swissing infiniband NVIDIA Quantum-X Photonics are expected to be available at the end of this year, NVIDIA SPECTRUM-X Photonics Ethernet Switch from 2026 from infrastructure and top system providers.
