The unique Ibas river administrator only responsible for Tinubu, Akpabio, Wike – Nadeco

The United States, the US, the chapter of the National Democratic Coalition, Nadeco, have asked the administrator of the alone in the state of Rivers, Vice Ibok-Ete Ibas (RTD) to resign from his position.

Nadeco explained that President Bola Tinubu does not have the constitutional powers to suspend the governor Sim Fubara and to appoint a single administrator.

Ibas was appointed after Tinubu suspended Fubara for six months after declaring an emergency in the state of Rivers.

Tinubu said he made the decision to prevent the subsequent escalation of the political crisis in Rivers.

However, President Nadeco in the US, Lloyd F. Ukwu, said Ibas will only be responsible for Tinubu, Senate President Godpabio, the Minister of Federal Capital, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and not the people of Rivers.

In a statement he signed, Ukwu said: “Nigeria works as a federation, and Rivers State is a sovereign entity. As president, Tinubu lacks the constitutional authority to unilaterally suspend a governor as Fubara.

“Rivers State is not a subordinate institution, no high school and Tinubu is not his supervisor and not the director of a high school to suspend a valid student.

“In order to be clear, his own presidency remains under a cloud of illegitimate, being declared a drowning winner, despite the widespread irregularities and disputes regarding the credibility of the elections.

“It is both absurd and unfair for a president whose mandate is challenged to try to remove a legally and properly elected governor.

“The irony is bright, a leader accused of an election fraud who wants to undermine democratic governance in the state of Rivers. In a democracy, sovereignty resides with citizens, not with an unintelligible administrator or an aspirant autocrat or civil desire in Abuja.

“Governments derive their legitimacy from the agreement of the Government – the leaders are entrusted by the power to serve people, not to master them, imposing an administrator on them. The state of Rivers and exercised democratic law in 2023, choosing Siminayi as governor.

“They did not choose an imposed administrator. Therefore, Nadeco asks for the immediate resignation of this illegitimate.

“The true democracy requires that the governance be rooted in the will of the people, expressed by free and correct choices. The current administrator is an impostor and a usurper, devoid of any mandate from the people. Nadeco asks the people of the rivers to reject it unequivocally.

“This imposed administrator is responsible not for the rivers of people, but by Tinubu, Akpabio, Kereke Ekun and Wike. His liance is in these political actors, not with the citizens who claim to govern.

The “principle of” power to people “is devoted to the Nigeria Constitution and International Human Rights, including in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

“Supporting this principle, Nadeco insists that the river people have to completely and resolutely reject this illegal administrator, forcing and resigning. Any less unacceptable.”
