GUV presents the housing plan for fire victims

The provincial government of CEBU offered a path to the property of the land for 42 households that lost their homes in a fire in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City in February last.

In a meeting on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the Gwendolyn Garcia Government presented to the mayor of Cebu, Raymond Alvin Garcia, its proposal for a Pag-Ibig housing loan program for victims of Sitio Vicente, Barangay Lahug.

The program, similar to those offered to the occupants of 93-1 Properties and Oprra Zone, aims to offer an opportunity for land ownership for families whose previous houses were located on lots held by the chapter.

The fire on February 27 left the victims worried about their ability to rebuild in the same area.

Within the proposed scheme, the affected residents can request a Pag-Ibig housing loan.

If approved, Pag-Ibig will pay the chapter the fair market value of the land in advance.

The beneficiaries will then pay the monthly depreciation to Pag-Big, the payment conditions that extend up to 30 years.

The chapter has assured the victims of the fires that this program will allow them to return to Sitio San Vicente and to rebuild their homes.

In addition to this long -term solution, the provincial government also provided immediate financial assistance of P10,000 each of the 42 affected households.

Cash aid will be offered through the QR Coded Card to purchase building materials from accredited traders. / EHP
