Alabama funding in the Fairhope library has been threatened on these 35 books – see the full list

The Fairhope Library Council will consider next month if it will move 35 book titles which is believed to be kept inadequate in accordance with the administrative code last year established by the Board of Directors of the Alabama Public Library.

The library may lose the financing of the state if these books are not moved to an adult section, regarding the concerns that they contain “sexually explicit” content.

The VLIs decided last week to reduce the financing of the Fairhope Library Board in a movement that was described as a “temporary break”. The Fairhope Library Council, which has a budget of over $ 1 million annually, receives about $ 43,000 from the state.

Library supporters fought back and rapidly raised over $ 45,000 online to replace the reduction of state funding.

The Library Council will consider if he will examine the books in his meeting on April 21.
