China leads military exercises that focus on Taiwan Strait

Taipei – China performed military exercises around Taiwan For the next day on Wednesdayfocusing on the Taiwan Strait a crucial pipeline for international trade that separates the democracy of the self-government island from China.

The exercises of the Thunder-2025A Strait took place in the medium and southern areas of the Strait, said the spokesman of the People’s Liberation Army.

The army in Taiwan said that it is closely monitored the exercises, but there was nothing unusual on the island of 23 million people that China claims as its own territory.

The latest exercises “focus on topics of identification and verification, warning and expulsion and interception, so as to test the capabilities of the regulatory and control troops of the area, blocking and common control and precision strikes on the key targets”, was cited the spokesman of the East Theater Command.

Taiwan reported that 76 military aircraft and 19 naval or government vessels entered the water and air space near the island, 37 of the airplanes crossing the central line in the 160-kilometer Taiwan (110-Mille), which forms an unofficial border, but which China refuses to recognize.

The China’s Shandong aircraft transport group also entered the Taiwan air defense identification area, a self -defined area tracked by the army.

Shi said Shandong was joined by Wednesday’s exercises, coordinating with the naval and air units in the Pacific Ocean, east of Taiwan. The exercises focused on confiscating the superiority of the air in the area and evaluating the capacity of forces to integrate the operations “inside and outside the island chain”, said Shi, in reference to the arch of the islands close to China, including the Philippines, Taiwan, Okinawa and southern Japan.

Beijing sends war plans and ship ships to the island daily and increased scope and scale of these exercises in recent years. Taiwan officials have recently warned that China could launch an attack under the pretext of military exercises.

Any conflict could attract in the US, which maintains a number of alliances in the region, offers Taiwan high -tech weapons and is legally obliged to respond to threats to the island.

“Once again, the aggressive military activities in China and the rhetoric towards Taiwan serve only the aggravation of tensions and endangering the security of the region and prosperity of the world,” said the US Department of State Department, Tammy Bruce.

“In the face of the intimidation tactics of China and the destabilizing behavior, the lasting commitment of the United States towards our allies and partners, including Taiwan,” Bruce said in a statement.

Taiwan has set up a central response group to monitor the latest exercises, according to the defense minister in Taiwan, Wellington Koo.

The China Business Office in Taiwan said the exercises were directed to Lai Ching-Te, the strong pro-independence president. The polls show that the overwhelming majority of the island’s residents reject the possibility of Chinese governance and back their current state of independence in Taiwan.

Taiwan and China broke up on the background of the civil war 76, but Tensions have increased Since 2016, when China has interrupted almost all contacts with Taipei.
