Hyannis Olice finds fentanil worth $ 30,000 hidden on engine block while stopping traffic

Hyannis – a New Bedford man is experiencing offenses of trafficking in crime, after the police discovered over 300 grams of fentanel hidden in a plastic container above the engine of a vehicle during a routine stop.

29-year-old Jason Hendricks-Tobey was arrested Wednesday evening after the Barstable Patrol officer John Gardiner

Gardiner officer initially stopped Hendricks-Tobey for a suspended license, according to the Barstable Police Department.

During the interaction, Gardiner detected the smell of burning plastic coming from the vehicle.

Subsequent research revealed the distribution of narcotics inside the car, along with several hidden compartments that the Gardiner officer has recognized as “skins” usually used for the storage of illegal drugs.

The source of the burning plastic smell was followed in a plastic blender cup that Hendricks-Tobey placed on the hot engine block under the Cadillac hood.

Inside the melting container, the police discovered over 300 grams of fentanel with an estimated street value of about $ 30,000.

Hendricks-Tobey has been charged with fentanil trafficking over 200 grams and more motor vehicles.

Initially it was released from the Barstable Police Department for $ 1,500 money.

At his referral on Thursday at Barstable District Court, a judge ordered Hendricks-Tobey to be owned by $ 15,000.
