The tension extinguished between the member of the Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelyson Dafeamekpor, and his colleague of Parliament for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, during a Metro TV discussion on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The show began on a peaceful note, but climbed into a heated exchange, when the two parliamentarians discussed the accusations made by the parliamentarian Assin South on two suspicious flights that landed at Kotoka International Airport and left for Gran Canaria, Spain, on March 25th.

Deputy Assin South claimed that his information indicated flights – an air ambulance and a private jet – were involved in drug trafficking or money laundering. However, the parliamentarian South Dayi rejected these statements to be devoid of background.

The exchanges intensified, causing the MP South Dayi to express their frustration towards the host of the show:

“Next time, he does not pair me with a rude and ungodly father like him. He doesn’t pair with him … No, no, he didn’t pair with him.”

The host of the show intercepted quickly, stating that the comments were unfair and represented a personal attack on the Reverend Ntim Fordjour.

The deputy from South Dayi replied: “Can you actually scandalize a government and do you think you should be allowed to go without a discount? He will not take any assembly from you; he continued to interrupt me. There is ethics in this program. If he cannot stay after ethics, he should not appear in the program.”

Following the continuous protests by the host, the parliamentarian South Dayi withdrew his comments.

Rockson-Nelyson Dafeamekpor continued to criticize the parliamentary Assin South, saying he was wrong:

“His geography is so poor that he does not know that the Canary Islands are off the coast of Morocco. There is only maritime water that serves as a border between Las Palmas and Casablanca. So if a plane rises from Las Palmas and the lands in Casablanca, he has a problem.”

The deputy for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, who is also a minority member of the Defense and Internal Committee, previously said at a press conference that flights – an air ambulance and a private jet – have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

He claimed that one of the aircraft, Air Med Flight L823 AM, landed in Ghana on March 20 and remained five days without any registration of a patient.

These charges caused President John Mahama to order security agencies to “collaborate immediately and fully with the honorable member of the Parliament, so as to provide all the information needed to investigate the accusations and to take all the necessary measures to expose any drug trafficking.”
