China suspends poultry meat, source imports from certain American companies

The General Administration of China (GAC) said on Friday that it has decided to suspend exports of poultry from some American companies to China, as well as suspend the qualifications of some American companies to export certain products to China.

Starting April 4, China will suspend the qualification of C&D (USA) Inc. to export the source to China. It will also suspend the qualifications of three other American companies, namely American Proteins, Inc., Mountain Farms of Delaware, Inc. And Darling Ingredients Inc., to export poultry meat and bone table in China, Gac said.

The decision came after Chinese habits have detected excessive levels of Zearalenone and mold in the imported American Sorg, and Salmonella in poultry meat and poultry bones in the US, Gac said in a statement, adding that the suspension aims to protect the health of Chinese consumers and the safety of the animal breeding sector.

In a separate announcement, GAC also announced the immediate suspension of poultry meat from the two American companies in Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Inc. and coastal processing, llc.

Gac said that this suspension is to detect Chinese customs on several occasions of prohibited drug furacillin in the US -imported chicken products and that the suspension decision is to protect the health and safety of consumers.

A GAC official said that the suspension of poultry import from the two American companies would help prevent food safety risks from the source, and the decision was taken in accordance with the relevant Chinese and international standards.

“The above measures taken by the general administration of habits are precautions necessary to ensure food safety and are reasonable and in accordance with international norms,” ​​the official said.
