Break-in leads to fatal morning shootings with Kansas City police

Kansas City, Kan. (KCTV)-A morning shot in the morning with the police ended fatally, after the firefighters called the law enforcement officials to investigate an interruption at an apartment building in Kansas City.

While the firefighters responded to an active alarm, they said they found damage to the building that indicated an entrance. It was later found that a man identified as Brian Hilt, 33, from Kansas City, Missouri, was armed when he entered the building about an hour earlier.

Shortly after the fire station reported the incident, the law officials said a resident inside the building reported a disturbance that involved a firearm. The officers met Hilt on the halls and ordered them to throw their weapon. Fire were fired after refusing.

Despite the rescue attempts of life made on the spot, the first respondent said that Hilt was pronounced dead as a result of his wounds.

KBI said he would continue to investigate the incident independently. The final and thorough discoveries will take a few weeks until completion. Once the investigation is completed, the findings of the cases will be presented to the Wyandotte District Prosecutor’s Office.
