Kathmandu Metropolis presents the investigation report to the National Commission for Human Rights for MP Sharma abused by children

The city of Metropolitan Kathmandu has taught a comprehensive 120 -page investigation report to the National Human Rights (NHRC) Commission on the case of Rekha Kumari Sharma, a member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly. Sharma is accused of holding a young girl and forced her in internal work, an incident that determined the investigation.

A team from the city of Metropolitan Kathmandu, including officials from the child assistance department, presented the report of the NHRC Secretary, Murari Prasad Kharel on Sunday. During teaching, Secretary Kharel said that no individual, regardless of their position, should misuse the power of the state in cases of human rights violation. He also provided the commitment of the Commission for a correct and thorough investigation, with emphasis on protecting children against such an exploitation.

The investigation was aroused after the Government led by CPN-Roul decided not to pursue accusations against his parliamentary Sharma in the Lumpini province, which caused NHRC to take action. As a result of this, NHRC REQUESTED Documents from the city of Metropolitan Kathmandu related to the case. Dheejraj Joshi, a member of the mayor’s secretariat, also stressed the potential conflicts of interest that involves the position of Attorney General in this issue.

Previously, the city of Metropolitan Kathmandu lodged a complaint with the police on May 30, 2024, regarding the crimes against children and the prohibition of traffic. However, both the prosecutor of the Kathmandu District Government and the office of the government prosecutor Patan decided not to submit the case.

NHRC said that it will expand its investigation into this regard, swearing to ensure impartiality and respond to those responsible through legal procedures.
