A judge told the parliamentary Mike Amesbury that there was no “excuse” for a drunk attack that he made. The deputy for Runcorn and Helsby appeared today, February 24, at Chester Magistrates. Here he was sentenced to 10 weeks of imprisonment.

He comes after he pleaded guilty for a single accusation of common attack on an altercation with a man who followed a night in his constituency on October 26 last year. The court heard As a man named Paul Fellows was in a rank of taxi in Frodsham around 2:00 on October 26, he was drinking and alone.

The victim came into contact with Amesbury who was drinking and alone. Mr. Fellows said he recognized Amesbury and “reconstituted” with him about a closure of the bridge in the city.

Alison Storey, in criminal prosecution, said that Amesbury responded to Mr. Fellows who said he “has nothing to do with you.” Then Amesbury hit Mr. Fellows at the head, beating him on the floor and was followed by “five more fists”, while the victim was on earth.

Several participants then entered to intervene and Amesbury could be heard shouting “you will not threaten the parliamentarian again, you will be again, he will be heard on CCTV played in court. Mr. Fellows suffered “minor wounds” following the attack.

Richard Derby, the defense, said that “Amesbury’s actions are the most regrettable and he expressed this especially from the beginning.” He added: “But there is clearly something that concerned it. Amesbury used the word “what” six times. It was something, clearly said by Mr. Fellows that, for good or wrong, Amesbury was concerned about. “

Mr. Derby told the court that he had never met someone with such a strong record of good behavior and public service as the Runcorn MP. District judge Tan Irkam said he had not found “any aggression from the victim” or any reprisals.

Judge Tan Irkam said in his sentence: “You were drunk in the early hours, the attack was unprob, being in the drink there was no excuse and, as a parliamentarian, you can reasonably expect a robust challenge from the components . You continued the attack while the victim was on the ground, this incident may not have ended if the participants did not intervene. “

He added that the incident was “too serious” to be treated by a community order or unpaid work, and his position should have made a “role model” and was a “privileged position”. He added: “It is something you have to be careful of in everything you do.”

In the conviction of the parliamentarian, Judge Ikram said: “You have served the country in high position, but the courts treat all those who come before them. I believe that unpaid drunk behavior on the street is too serious to be treated by unpaid work or community command. “

Mike Amesbury was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison. He will execute 40% of this sentence and another 12 months of license.
