Latvian unemployment rate increases in Q4 quarter

Brusels (DPA -AFX) – the unemployment rate in Latvia has grown slightly in the last quarter of 2024 after decreased in the last two quarters, the figures from the Central Statistical Bureau showed Monday.

The job without jobs increased to 6.9 percent in the fourth quarter from 6.7 percent in the third quarter.

During the corresponding period last year, the job without jobs was 6.8 percent.

The number of unemployed increased to 63,800 in the fourth quarter from 63,000 in the previous period of three months.

The unemployment rate for young people, which applies to 15 to 24 years old, decreased to 7.8 percent in the fourth quarter, from 8.7 percent in the quarter of September.

In 2024, the total unemployment rate was 6.9 percent compared to 6.5 percent in 2023.
