Packers “feel good” about the ability to sort the offensive line

Indianapolis – When Packers talk about versatility as a favorite feature among the offensive lines they acquire, it is not just for when the wounds hit.

It is also for moments like now.

Green Bay has a lot to do with his offensive line for 2025, starting with whether the Josh Myers center will return or not to the packers or leave as a free agent.

But, with a stable of versatile players available, general manager Brian Gutekunst knows no matter what happens to Myers, the team has options to put together the unit for the next season – without having to rely on the free agency or on the project to tighten an immediate starter to fill a hole.

“Historical and with our group at this moment, we have worked hard to be versatile, so that everything comes – whether it is wounds or going through this period of time and we have to make some decisions – we have a lot of guys who can play more positions,” Gutekunst said last week at NFL Scouting Combine.

“I feel good with our offensive line.”

The beginning of the free agency is still a week away, but there are various scenarios that could be played.

If Myers again signals to take the central place, the line could have a lot like last season, with Elgton Jenkins at the left guard, Zach Tom and Rasheed Walker, at the right and left approach, plus Sean Rhyan and, first of all, the choice from the first round last year, Jordan Morgan, competing. Maybe Morgan also competes with Walker to the left.

More importantly, if Myers leaves, packaging are not forced to respond and have options, which is the point of their approach.

Jenkins could and, before, moved to the center, while Tom is also considered a possible center, although he did not play there in the NFL. Each change would open a possible departure place for Morgan.

In these cases, however, Jenkins’ best place is the left guard, where he has won two Pro Bowl selections, and Tom was quickly set as a star in the right approach. So the movement, although it is functional, would not be ideal.

“It is a luxury to have this kind, but when a guy was as successful as Zach on the right side in that place, you are always a little reluctant to move,” Gutekunst said.

Other considerations could include Rhyan change in the center or trying to choose from the fifth round last year, Jacob Monk there. Rhyan has already converted from a college to a professional guard, while Monk did not get game actions like Rookie, but he played both a guard and center at Duke.

“We have a lot of flexibility there if, for some reason, we can’t get Josh back,” Gutekunst said.

This phrase suggests that Packers will follow Myers’ re-signing, although the prices on the open market for a player with his experience could always rise above the comfort level of Green Bay, given that their options are advancing. It is not said until the time comes.

For all their efforts in front, Packers, unfortunately, were caught in deep playoffs after a healthy regular season.

Morgan was marginalized because of the shoulder surgery, so when Jenkins left the game with wild books in Philadelphia, with a shoulder extinguisher, Packers had to resort to unexperimated reserves in Rookie Travis Glover and the former undeclared leaflet Kadeem Telfort.

The latter finally settled as the crime behaved better in the second half, but the problems of the unit, with a lower power than the maximum, the manipulation of the dynamic defensive front were a result.

In part, therefore, Gutekunst has reiterated several times in Indianapolis the constant attention he pays to the offensive line. It does not take much for a strong situation to become a concern, so writing at least one offensive in April is a good bet.

In his seven projects to the GM, Gutekunst failed to take one-line once (2023), and that was after writing eight in the last three years. He also wrote three last year.

Positive news is that Packers is in a good place this season. Morgan’s recovery is progressing, Myers avoided what seemed to be a serious injury to the Philly Playoff, and Jenkins is not worse for wear after Remark, which did not require any medical procedure.

Mantra remains obtaining “the best five” there to reunite and play as one. What looks for 2025 is not yet known, but Packers believes that they are in a good form, with the chance to add more depth to this future project.

“We will always continue to approach the offensive line because it is never long enough,” Gutekunst said. “But right now, standing here today, I feel pretty good, if we should go, we have boys who can play in different places.”
