Entergy receives a final end to selling its natural gas networks to Delta Utilits

If you are an Entergy Natural Gas customer, you may have received an Email that allows you to know that Delta Utility will become your new natural gas supplier.

This is due to the fact that the Entergy selling of its natural gas distribution networks in Baton Rouge and New Orleans to Delta Utilits received the final approval at the end of February, when the Metro Council signed it and approved the transfer of Entergy gas franchise rights from Baton Rouge. The sale, which was first proposed in October 2023, was already approved by the Louisiana Public Services Commission and the New Orleans Local Council.

Delta Utilits is a portfolio company of Bernhard Capital Partners, a private Baton Rouge Capital Company investing strongly on the realm of infrastructure. The company is based in New Orleans.

The natural gas affairs in Entergy Louisiana serves about 95,000 houses and businesses in the Baton Rouge area, while Nettergy New Orleans natural gas companies serve about 109,000 houses and businesses in New Orleans. Customers can expect the transition to Delta Utilits to take place at the end of summer.

The sale will allow Entergy to “emphasize the attention on the regulated electrical utility activity”, a statement of Chip Arnould, the Entergy gas distribution director, shows.

At this time no action is required by customers. Entergy and Delta Utilits say they will provide updates to all customers affected in the coming months.

In terms of costs, Entergy provides natural gas customers that rates will remain the same during transition to Delta utilities and that Delta utilities will continue to follow the structure already in force. Any change in the future rate from Delta Utilits will “require the regulatory approval through the same processes that Entergy is following today,” says Entergy.
