Prison for woman who committed 14 shopping offenses in Bridgwater

A prolific store was closed after it was guilty for more than a dozen crime.

Lauren Thomas, 37, stole objects from Bridgwater stores on 14 occasions between December 9 and March 4.

Thomas, without a fixed address, was convicted yesterday (Monday, March 10) to eight weeks in prison at the Taunton Magistrates. A sentence of freedom was given, because Thomas committed the crimes while executing a suspended sentence for similar offenses.

It also ordered to pay a compensation of 200 pounds.

Said inspector Sarah Knight: “Lauren Thomas has stolen from the shops in the city more than a dozen times over a three -month period.

“The public and business owners are rightly expected for such criminals to be treated by the police and the courts. We hope that the actions taken in these cases provide people with our commitment to address this problem.

“The show is not a crime without victims and we will continue to work with retailers to bring thieves to court.”
