Boone Co. Member of the Board of Directors accused of theft

Belvidere, ill. (WIFR)-a member of the Boon Board of Directors, 77 years old, is facing an accusation of crime theft, according to online judicial documents.

Marion Thornberry from Belvidere is accused of stealing from a school or a place of worship. He was charged on March 11 and must appear in court on March 13.

Thornberry represents the district of the Boone County Board. He was elected in the position in the general elections of November 5, 2024, with his term that will expire in December 2028.

The chairman of the Boon Board of Boon, Karl Johnson, confirmed that he is aware of the investigation, although he could not comment on any specifics. He said that there will be no motions or decisions about Thornberry’s role in the council without first consulting Boone County Lawyer.

Thornberry is the most recent chosen official of Boone County who has been accused of theft. In 2023The official and recorder of Boone County, Julie Bliss, was accused of the theft of government and improper official conduct. Her case is in progress.
