It seems that a farmer was shot dead at his farm in Odisha in the early hours of Sunday. The victim, identified as Gobinda Chandra Nayak, was attacked while she kept waking up on her cultures, with past suspected as the main reason, officials said.

“The incident happened between 3 and 3:30. My brother regularly watched crops and pussies at night. This time, he was shot and we suspect he could owe a past enemy, “said the older brother of the victim, Barun Kumar Nayak India Today TV.

According to the reports, Nayak had slept in a small house in his Dhenkanal farm, as he often did to protect his crops. Around 3 o’clock in the morning, it was supposed to approach unidentified mistakes and threw themselves with a torch. When Nayak reacted, the attackers opened the fire, hurting him.

Hearing shootings, his older brother, who was also on the farm, rushed to his side. After finding Nayak with more wounds to shoot, he immediately asked for an ambulance, but none was available. The family then transported him to the hospital of the Dhenkanal District Hospital in his own vehicle, but the doctors told him he was dead.

Sources revealed that the deceased was a resident in the village of Kalanga Chakundanali and traveled almost 10 km daily to check its farm near a Shiva temple in Fasigan. It is suspected that someone could watch their movements.

“The police launched an investigation of the incident. A scientific team was sent to the scene and we examine possible reasons behind the attack. The victim’s family filed a complaint, but the accused has not yet been identified,” a senior said the police official.
