American judge stops the Trump Raids administration on certain religious sites

Istanbul

A federal judge ordered the stop of the Trump administration that applied immigration policies to the places of worship belonging to Quakers, Cooperative Baptists and Sikhs. The decision follows a process filed by these religious groups, causing Trump’s decision to reverse a policy from the Biden era that has had limited immigration arrests in certain sacred spaces.

The Forward Democracy, in a press statement, said that Monday’s decision came after a trial on behalf of the Baptist cooperative Fellowship (1,400 churches serving 750,000 Baptists), Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento (serving 30,000 Sikhi ) and six quaker meetings.

American district judge Theodore Chuang has granted a limited temporary order requested by Trump’s religious groups, which allowed immigration to places, as reported CBS News.

The decision only protects the worship sites used by Quakers, the cooperative Baptist scholarship and the Sikh Temple, not all religious locations at national level.

Judge Chuang, a named Obama, found that Trump administration policy has discouraged the presence at worship services, affecting not only immigrants without documents, but also those with legal status who are afraid.

The execution would have a “serious and negative” impact

The Court has established that this policy probably violates the rights of religious groups under the first amendment and religious law of restoration of freedom.

In his opinion of 59 pages, the judge explained that the application of immigration in accordance with the policy of 2025 would “have a significant impact” in a significant and negative way, by reducing the presence. He added that the fact that the “officers for the application of the armed law” at the places of worship hinders Quakers and Sikhii from “following their religious beliefs or worship freely.”

The court has decided that the policy of 2025 loads religious groups by disturbing worship and support for immigrants. The judge said that he exercises “a substantial pressure” on these groups, forcing them to modify their practices by preventing worship with a “larger and more different group” and restricting key aspects of their faith.

As a result, the judge ordered the Trump administration to restore the memory of 2021 from the former internal security secretary, Alejandro Mayoras, who banned the application in certain locations “Special Protection”, including schools, medical facilities and places of worship.

The memory stressed that the application to worship houses should be avoided “to the greatest possible extent”. The Court also guided the Department of Internal Security in Trump to follow the memorandum of 2021 when applied the immigration rules on the places of worship of these religious groups.

However, Chuang’s decision still allows arrests in or near places of worship near a mandate.

“For decades, the government has acknowledged that everyone – regardless of their immigration status – should be able to participate in worship houses, without fear of a governmental attack without guarantee. Religious institutions should not go to court to fight for the right to worship and freely associate, which is enshrined in our Constitution, “said Skye Perryman, president and CEO of Democracy before, in response to the decision.

Rev. Paul Baxley, executive coordinator of Baptist cooperative Fellowship, also congratulated the decision: “Today’s decision is a strong assertion of values that defined the Baptist cooperative Fellowship – a firm commitment to religious freedom, the autonomy of the local church and clearly the separation of the church and the state . “

On January 20, his first day in office, Trump revoked the memory of the Biden era, replacing it with a directive to say that the “brilliant line rules” regarding the application of immigration are not necessary.

Internal security defended the movement, arguing that “criminals will no longer be able to hide in the schools and churches in America” and that law enforcement should use “common sense”.

Quakers, part of the religious society of friends, have worshiped in the US since the 1600s and underline the common worship. The cooperative Baptist scholarship includes over 1,400 congregations, many with immigrant members and ministries supporting refugees. The Sikh Temple near Sacramento, California, serves about 30,000 Sikhs, with immigrants making half of its congregation, according to judicial documents.
