Hyderabad: The cyber unit of the city (CCCU) arrested a fraudster on Tuesday because a job seeker of 15.88 RS Lakh has dropped. The police arrested him, the accused, Dhamender Kumar, from his native place in Uttar Pradesh.

DCP Dara Kavitha Cyberrime said Kumar has attracted job aspirants through promising placements in Dubai and other countries. He convinced the victim by posting as head of a Delhi placement center, an official said.

During the investigation, the authorities found that Kumar was involved in five similar cases in different states, including one in Hyderabad, DCP Kavitha said.

The investigation began after a 49 -year -old victim from Amberpet filed a complaint saying that he was looking for a July 2024 job and was doubled after approaching a website through Social Media. He received a call that informed him that he offered a job at a company, and the fraud asked for money for “internal processing”. The victim in all transferred 15.88 lei to the bank accounts provided by the fraudator.

When the victim realized he was deceived, he filed a complaint with the Cyber ​​Police. During the interrogation, Kumar revealed that he is targeting job seekers by posting false advertisements on popular job portals. After collected their mobile phone numbers, Dhamender and its associates, including women, made unsolicited calls and sent messages or emails, claiming that they represent renowned companies. They used professional language and tone and even performed false interviews or evaluations to build confidence with victims.

They also created fake profiles of employees to seem legitimate. In order to win the confidence of the victims, the fraudsters ask them to provide bank account numbers, credit card details and personal documents. During the attack, the police confiscated three mobile phones and three laptops used in the crime and produced the accused before the Court of Judicial Retention.
