Musk says that federal workers should expect another round of e -mail “Pulse check”

President Trump warned on Wednesday that about 1 million federal workers did not respond to the recent E -mail asking to describe “five things” They managed to be “on the bubble” that suggests that they risk losing their jobs.

Federal workforce in California

  • Nearly 150,000 federal workers are based in California.

At the first meeting with the cabinet, Trump welcomed the billionaire Tech Elon Musk, the head of the administration’s cost reduction team, called the Government Efficiency Department (Doge), who said that federal workers should expect another e-mail in the effort to figure out if there are workers.

“We will send another e -mail,” Musk said.

Trump called Musk’s pushing “A good idea because, you know, those people, as I said before, are on the bubble,” he said. About half of the federal workforce did not respond to the initial emails sent over the weekend.

Musk also spoke at the meeting, describing the emails that asked “What did you do last week?” As a “pulse check” that anyone could make and argue, without presenting evidence, that the government pays the salaries of the workers that do not exist.

“What we try to get to the bottom is, we believe that there are a number of people on the salary that are dead, which is why they cannot answer – and some people who are not true people … fictitious people who collect salaries,” Musk said.

E -mail sparked confusion among federal workers and apparent tension Among the members of Trump’s cabinetSome of them told their workers not to respond immediately. At the cabinet meeting, Trump told reporters that “everyone at this table is very much behind it.”

Trump invited the cabinet members to speak to express any dissatisfaction with Musk, but he quickly added “we will throw them” if they actually spoke, causing laughter.

“And some do not agree, but I will tell you, for the most part, I think everyone is only happy, they are delighted,” said Trump.

Musk, wearing a “technological support” shirt under a suit jacket, while sitting behind the members of the cabinet at a long table, called Doge an “assistance function” for the administration. His goal, he said, was to reduce $ 1 trillion from the budget of nearly $ 7 trillion this year, in the effort to balance him.

Musk also acknowledged that his team made errors, such as canceling efforts to prevent ebola while making Usaid discounts. “I think we all want to prevent ebola. So we immediately restored the ebola prevention and there was no interruption. But we have to move quickly,” he said.
