Sherlock, the longest fire dog in London, to withdraw

A dog that has joined London the Fire Brigade at just 10 weeks after it has become the longest fire investigation dog.

Sherlock, a Cocker Spaniel, participated in the fire of the Grenfell tower and encountered royalty in the 12 years of service.

He is instructed to identify the presence of up to 10 flammable liquids, such as acetone and gasoline, and has recently worked in the community on fire safety and prevention.

His manipulator, the group commander, Paul Osborne, said: “In the dog years, Sherlock is 100 years old, so it is appropriate for him to hang his boots and take a well-won break. He will enjoy a relaxed pension, full of goals, his favorite walks and a lot of bell.”
