A PCR call was received on February 16, reporting a burglary at a house in Mukherjee Nagar, in the north -Vest of Delhi, the police said.

The applicant, Naveen Kumar Chopra, informed that his house was broken and golden objects were stolen. Following his complaint, a thread was recorded and the investigation was launched, they said.

A police team analyzed the CCTV materials and obtained a clear image of the suspect. Using the FRS technology, the suspect was identified as Imran (28) from Timarpur, who is an ordinary offender, with previous involvement in theft, officials said.

The team made an incursion to the house of the accused in his native village, which led to his arrest. During the interrogation, he confessed the crime and revealed that he sold the jewels stolen from a Goldsmith, Sachin Verma (36 years old), they added.

Following Imran’s disclosure, the police recovered Rs 5.87 Lakh in cash and some stolen items, including diamonds and pearls, said Bhisham Singh, Deputy Police Commissioner (North -West).

Subsequent investigations led to Verma arrest, from which the police recovered jewelry fragments. Sachin has admitted that he sold the gold of the jewelers in Ghaziabad, the officer said.
