Following a close consultation, world curling and Goldline curling have has agreed to each other To suspend the approval of Goldline’s pursuit foam in the competitive game.

While the product meets all the specifications of world curling equipment and has been initially approved for use, additional ice testing has provided evidence that it exceeds the limits presented in the World Curling Declaration for Competition equipment.

With these new information, Goldline voluntarily withdrew the following foam from competitive use in the maximum interest of correctness and maintaining the integrity of sport.

Colin Grahamslaw, the Secretary General of the World Curling, said: “Following the concerns with us and the supply by some video tests that I contacted Goldline. Were unequivocal in their response that the next foam should be withdrawn while waiting for further investigations.

“We thank them for their collaboration in this process. We also thank those players who have committed time and effort to understand what is happening. The agreement to suspend the approval of the equipment comes with a significant impact on a manufacturer, and world curling wants to recognize Goldline collaboration in this issue and their commitment to provide quality equipment for the best curling athletes in the world. “

The tracking foam will be eliminated from the list of approved world curling codes with immediate effect, however, all the results in which the following foam has been used remain valid and all other Goldline equipment previously approved in accordance with the specifications and are available for the competitive game.

As events around the world can be underway, they can complete the championship using the approved code list valid at the beginning of the event. This withdrawal will only enter into force for those events that have not yet started playing from March 1, 2025 00:00 Universal coordinated time (UTC).

Pete Townshend, the Goldline Curling CEO said: “From the beginning, I have supported rigorous tests, transparency and a fair playing field. While our pursuit foam meets all technical specifications, additional testing has shown that it crosses an unintentional performance threshold. We believe that what needs to be done is to voluntarily withdraw from the competition and to lead by example in prioritizing the fair game.

“This situation clearly highlights the fact that the technical respect is not always sufficient and that the results of the performance must be taken into account. Given this, we believe that other stages will be needed to ensure that all the equipment is aligned with the fundamental principles of correctness and consistency and we encourage world curling to continue evaluating all sweeping technology with this in mind. “

This process has strengthened the need for continuous evaluation of equipment standards, because even the most careful designed regulations cannot always anticipate new technological developments.

World curing continues to collaborate closely with our athletes commission, the community of athletes, the producers and the academic community to ensure that all brokerage equipment and techniques are used in our sport meet the approved specifications and guarantee a correct playing field for all competitors.
