The man shot fatally by the "Booby Capcana" while checking the Uncle's House House, says the sheriff

Calhoun County, SC (WIS/Gray News) -what was to be a control on a vacant family property was quickly transformed into a tragedy, after South Carolina deputies say a man was fatally shot at the house “caught by Booby”.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s office in Calhoun County responded last night to a Saint Matthews, South Carolina, after reports. When they arrived, the deputies say they found Jordan Dove, 34 years old, suffering from an apparent shot wound. Died on the way to the hospital, Reports wis.

Dove’s teenage daughter told the deputies that she and her father went home, which belongs to Dove Uncle, 66-year-old Alfonzo Brown to verify, according to an incident report.

While at home, Dove was shot by what the Sheriff of Calhoun County, Thomas Summers, calls a “Booby trap”, alleged by Brown.

The report of the incident says that Dove’s daughter told the deputies that, while she and her father were approaching the door of the house, they heard it sound “similar to fireworks.” Then she noticed that her father was shot.

“My heart is heading for them. We will say prayers for them for a long time. This is just a horrible thing, ”said Summers. “Jordan was just going there because he knew it was a vacant property, just to check to make sure he wasn’t shattered or vandalized.”

The deputies say they entered the house of Brown and found that a rifle was raised to the back door to leave once someone tried to enter. They also found the front front door closed with no one inside.

“He (Brown) took a rifle and screwed it to a pile on the wall and offered it to the door. Then he, for lack of a better term, a pipe pressed on the trigger stretched into the door. The door opened inward, so when you opened it, it pushed the trigger and pulled the explosion, “Summers said.

Deputies say Brown is currently incarcerated in Maryland. He was a person of interest for a non-making, triple shooting on January 11, according to a press release of Prince George County Police.

Summer believes that Brown set up Booby trap, fear that the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office will look at him at home after committing the crimes he accused in Maryland.

“This is my opinion: he knew the crimes he was going to commit when he left here and left for Maryland. He knew he would be on the run. He knew he would be followed in Calhoun County. He knew we would come there to get him and I think he set it for us, “said Summers.

Wis spoke briefly with Dove’s wife last Wednesday. Asked how her family and daughter, who witnessed the incident, followed the news, all she said is “we do”.

Deputies say Brown will be accused of the death of his nephew. The accusations they face are the murder and holding a weapon by a convicted kind, according to Summers.

The investigation is still active, and Summers says there could be additional taxes. Not sure when Brown will be brought back to South Carolina to cope with the accusations.
