The IGP confirms the radio hosts in the criminal investigation for mocking Hinduism, six complaints filed

Kuala Lumpur, March 4-Police received six reports on a viral video showing three radio hosts from an Astro station, which mocks a religious ritual.

Police -General Inspector, Tan SRI Razarudin Husain, said one of the reports was deposited by a 44 -year -old engineer who came over the video on Facebook.

“The applicant claimed that several individuals were seen shouting” sail “while another person danced. He submitted the report while the video content was considered to reach racial sensitivities and mocked the Hindu religion, ”he said when he was contacted today.

RazaruDin said that police checks found that the radio station eliminated the video.

“The video obtained 95,400 views and 204 shares before being eliminated,” he added.

The case is investigated in accordance with section 298 of the Criminal Code for acts that cause disharmony, division or feelings of enemy, hatred or religious will, as well as section 233 of the 1998 Communications and Multimedia Law for the improper use of the network facilities or services.

The people involved issued official apologies through the Facebook page was FM.

Previously, the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, said that the Communications and Multimedia Commission in Malaysia (MCMC) was directed to carry out a detailed incident investigation.

Astro and the radio station management were called to the MCMC headquarters to provide a full explanation.

Meanwhile, the management of the radio station, Astro Audio, has announced that the three radio hosts – Nabil Ahmad, Azad Jasmin and Radin were suspended to go in the air awaiting an internal investigation.

Astro audio expressed regret for the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to approach the problem seriously. – Bernama
