Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh Crime Houses Mastermind Walmiik Karad, a close assistant of former minister Maharashtra, Dhananjay Munde, has set up several criminal bands in the Beed district to keep his money and extort the money from development projects, according to a CID loading sheet.

Failure to comply with the money of extortion would invite Karad’s anger, who would disturb the victims by their abduction or aggression, said that the action sheet citing an “secret witness” that appeared in front of the investigation officer of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), the probe Agency.

Statements of up to five “secret witnesses” are part of the bulky action sheet in Dehmukh’s killing and two related cases, one of them, last week before a Beed district in the Marashwada region of Maharashtra Central Maharashtra.

Deshmukh, Sarpanch from Massajog Village in Beed District, was kidnapped, tortured and killed on December 9 last year, assumed to stop an extortion offer aimed at an energy company. Seven people, including Karad, have been arrested so far and reserved in accordance with the strict law of Maharashtra control of organized crime (MCOCA). The other arrested included Sudarshan Ghule, Vishnu Chate, Jairam Chate, Mahesh Kedar, Sudhir Sangale and Prateek Ghule.

A Krishna Andhale is a desired accusation in this case. In addition to others, the five secret witnesses who were not appointed in the document told investigators about Karad’s criminal activities and his associates in the Beed district, the lawn of origin. The secret witnesses described in detail the illegal activities of Karad and his associates in the district. In his statement, one of the secret witnesses said CID that Karad treated the district as his festivity where he used strong tactics and set up gangs to maintain his dominance.

“Karad held a superior hand on the district using those bands. He also used them to extort money from various companies operating in the district. If any company failed to pay money in extortion, the band members and would close the operations,” the witness said in his statement. These gangs created a “reign of terror” in the district and if someone would try to put obstacles in their activities, they would kidnap or aggravate such people, he said, according to the charging sheet.

Due to the atmosphere of fear created by Karad and his associates, few dared to present complaints against these gangs. If someone has been close to courage and approached a police station, they would make sure the applicant was ignored by the police, the witness maintained. Karad owns five high quality cars, two heavy vehicles and a JCB car, apart from other properties, mentioned the file.

Sometimes, false cases have been submitted against the people who opposed the activities of the bands. After Karad’s arrest in January, there were protests in different parts of the Beed district. These protests were organized by the members of these bands, the witness said.

Another witness, who opposed Karad and the members of his previous band, said CID that Karad threatened him and a false case was filed. Karad and his associates Sudarshan Ghule, Vishnu Chate, Pratik Ghule, Mahesh Kedar, Sudhir Sangle and Krishna Andhare asked and raised extortion money. If their request would not be fulfilled, they would throw the individual.

Another secret witness, in his statement, said CID of accusing Pratik Ghule, Sudhir Sangle Sudardhan Ghule used to raise money in the name of Karad. Another secret witness of the case was a friend of the accused Sudarshan Ghule, who registered his statement before DYSP Gujar. In his statement, the witness told the CID officer that he knew Sudarshan Ghule over the last eight to 10 years. The witness said in 2019, purchased a SIM card by submitting his documents and subsequently gave it to Sudarshan Ghule for his use. On December 6, 2024, three days before the kidnapping, his friend showed him a video with a dive outside an Avada Village Green Energy Factory in which Sudarshan Ghule was seen with others.

During a conversation between the accused, two days later, Chate quarreled on Ghule because he could not stop the windmill from Massajog and return “with an empty hand”. Chate said that there was a message from Karad that if Sarpanch Deshmukh would come to the way of extorting from the company, then “learn -permanent lesson”, according to the witness.

Altaf Tamboli (40 years old), vice -president at Avaada Energy PVT LTD, said in his statement, before Dig Teli, that his company has invested RS 300 Crore to Rs 350 Crore in the Windmill project in Massajog and hired 130 people.

According to the complaints received from Sunil Shinde and Shivaji Thopte officials, they received threats from Karad and were asked to stop at the factory.
