The world reacts to the suspension of American aid in Ukraine

The decision of US President Donald Trump to suspend military aid to Ukraine has sent shock waves throughout the world. He caused Ukraine’s allies to express a new solution and caused a serious concern from those in the crossings of Russian aggression.

People in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv are dismayed by the decision of a country that was a firm ally. A man said, “I feel bad for my friends who serve and I just want to be alive.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote X on Tuesday that he is willing to “do the right things” with the US. He called the tumultuous meeting last week with “regrettable” Trump, adding that he is ready to sign an agreement to provide the US access to Ukraine’s natural resources.

Leaders in Europe say their support remains firm. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said on Tuesday: “Europe is ready to massively increase the defense expenses, both to respond to the short-term emergency to act and to support Ukraine, but also to address the long-term need to assume more responsibility for our own European security.”

Von Der Leyen announced a defense fund to amount to 800 billion euros, or about $ 840 billion. She said that the leaders of the European Union will organize an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss details.

Russian leaders greeted Trump’s decision. The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, described it as “the best contribution to the cause of peace.”
