The solid golden toilet disappeared from the Blenheim Palace in 2019

A man accused of trying to sell gold from a stolen gold toilet of 4.8 million pounds told a court that he did not know that he had to deal with a criminal.

The art work, called America, was taken from the Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire in the early hours of September 14, 2019, two days after it was displayed.

Fred Doe said he put on James Sheen, who previously acknowledged to steal the toilet, about the gold dealer Bora Guccuk.

But DOE told the jurors that “they would not be involved with (Sheen) … if I knew it is a thief.” Mr. Doe, Mr. Guccuk and a third man denies the accusations against them.

“It’s an idiot”

The thieves stole the toilet that works fully in an “auditory raid”, which lasted only five minutes, previously heard the Crown Oxford Court.

He weighed 98 kg (216 kg) and was insured for $ 6 million. The prices of gold at that time would have seen the gold worth 2.8 million pounds, it was said to the court.

Prosecutor Julian Christopher Kc said a series of messages, vocal notes and screen discovered Sheen, Mr. Doe’s phones and Mr. Guccuk on the days after the burglary showed that Trio negotiated a price of 25,632 pounds per kilo

When asked by the prosecutor: “You knew where the gold came from.”

Mr. Doe replied: “Not in any stage. If I had any idea, I would not be involved in it.

“I let a lot of people get involved with an idiot. Jimmy Sheen is an idiot. He let me down.”

Fred Doe acknowledged that he used the word of code “cars” to represent gold kilograms in a series of messages

Mr. Doe also suggested another reason why he was not suspect was because Sheen demanded a gold value, which, at that time, was about 26,000 pounds per kg.

“If he says he wants (20,000 pounds) a kilo,” I want to get rid of it, “I would think there’s something wrong here. But he wanted 26,000 pounds,” he said.

The jury heard a vocal message from Mr. Doe to Sheen on the days after the robbery says that Mr. Guccuk “knows the full score of the car (Codeword for kilo of gold) – what it was, what was not.”

The criminal prosecution claimed that this is the gold from the stolen toilet.

But Doe said that the exchange is “about the price of gold”, and Mr. Guccuck would understand that it means “what was the price” and about how “the market goes up and descends”.

Michael Jones, 39, from Oxford, denies a number of theft.

Sheen, 40 years old, from Welingborough from Northamptonshire, has previously said culprit.

The process continues.
