Chicago Fire who killed Milan Campbell, injured mother, 2 firefighters on Granville Ave. In West Rogers Park accidental: CFD

Chicago (WLS) – An apartment fire in North Side, who killed a 6 -year -old boy and hurt his mother last month was caused by unattended cooking, Chicago firefighters said on Tuesday.

CFD was considered an accidental cause, CFD said.

Milan Campbell was killed in the Valentine’s Day fire in 2700-The Avenue Granville bloc in West Rogers Park.

The boy’s mother was hospitalized in critical condition. Her condition on Wednesday was not immediately clear.

Two firefighters were also taken to a hospital in good condition, after stairs that were collapsed, said CFD.

Firefighters said the fire started in the unit on the first floor, where the mother and the child lived.

The boy was burned stupid, and his mother tried to save him, CFD said.
