Pope marks the 12th anniversary of his hospitalized papacy but with conditions of improvement

ROMEPope Francis He marked the 12th anniversary of his papacy on Thursday, with more and more positive medical updates four weeks after his hospitalization for double pneumonia.

The Pope spent another quiet night, the Vatican said in his short morning statement.

A thoracic x -ray confirmed improvements, Vatican said on Wednesday, just two days after the doctors said it was no longer in imminent danger to death. The latest medical bulletin said that the condition of the 88 -year -old pope remained stable, but indicated a complex image, given his general fragility.

The holy chair did not say how the anniversary of his elections could be commemorated as the 26th Pope. It is a public holiday at the Vatican, and the masses are planned in his honor in the churches in Rome. No medical bulletins will be issued.

On Wednesday, Francis followed from a distance a spiritual withdrawal of the fast that was a main element of its papacy. He continues to receive large flows of oxygen through nasal tubes during the day and a non-invasive mechanical mask to help rest at night.

Former cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected on the fifth vote of the 2013 conclave, which was named after Pope Benedict XVI resigned.

While Francisc praised Benedict’s humility in his resignation and said he could follow in his footsteps, more recently said he said he said that papacy is a life job.
